Leonidas Kavakos joins the GYSO
The Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) welcomes for the first time the world-class violinist Leonidas Kavakos in a concert under the baton of Dionysis Grammenos, on Saturday, December 20th, 2025, at 20:30, at the “Christos Lambrakis” Hall of Megaron – the Athens Concert Hall.
Together with the multi-awarded cellist Timotheos Gavriilidis-Petrin, who has an extensive international concert career, they appear as soloists with the GYSO – Youth Orchestra in Residence at Megaron – in the celebrated Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra by Johannes Brahms.
The program also features one of the most popular works of the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák: the Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”, a landmark of the Romantic repertoire and a perfect showcase for the talent and artistry of the outstanding young Greek musicians.
